Real
Nappies
Many
people still believe that
the only alternative to
disposable nappies are
the old fashioned terry
nappies – nothing
could be further from the
truth. Modern reusable
or real nappies:
- are easy to use
- come in a variety of
shapes and forms
- are made of natural
fabrics
- have flushable liners
to catch any solid waste
- fasten with velcro/
aplix, poppers or use simple folds
- can be washed on a 60 degrees
cycle
- can
save parents up to £500
on the first baby alone.
This takes into account
the costs used for
electricity, washing
powder and drying
...and of course, they are better for the environment

Real
Nappy Project (GRNP)
Our
aim is to provide Gloucestershire
parents, expectant parents
and health professionals
with real nappy information
so that they can make an
informed choice for themselves.
GRNP aims to work with appropriate
individuals and groups. Choosing
to use real nappies (even
on an occasional basis) reduces
the number of disposable
nappies going into landfill.
The
GRNP are supported by Gloucestershire
County Council and the Gloucestershire
local authorities and have
joined up with Resource Futures
(who have been running the
Real Nappy Project in Bristol
and South Gloucestershire and
B&NES (Bath and North East
Somerset) since 2001). The
GRNP is working together with
all the Gloucestershire Local
Authorities to provide help
and information on real nappies
to all in Gloucestershire.
Our dedicated Real Nappy
consultant Hettie Harris
is working hard promoting
real nappies throughout Gloucestershire.
