Start Recycling the Garden!
When garden waste decomposes in a landfill site it produces methane, a potentially explosive gas, which contributes to climate change. In fact, for every tonne of biodegradable waste that ends up in landfill, 300-500 cubic metres of methane is generated.
Yet
garden cuttings are a valuable source
of nutrients which could be turned
into
something altogether more useful – COMPOST!
As well as
composting at home, you can also
take advantage of the garden
waste collection service offered by your
local authority. The collection service takes your garden waste to central composting at sites around the county.
