Boost
for recyclers in north Cotswolds
Keen recyclers in the
north Cotswolds have received
a welcome boost thanks to a cross
county agreement between Gloucestershire
and Warwickshire County Councils.
Gloucestershire residents have
been given official confirmation
that they can now use the Household
Recycling Centre at Shipston-on-Stour,
which is just across the county
border in Warwickshire.
That is particularly good news
for people living in the north
of the Cotswolds, in and around
the likes of Chipping Campden and
Moreton-in-Marsh, who live much
closer to Shipston-on-Stour than
their nearest facility at Fosse
Cross in Gloucestershire.
“We are delighted that there
is now a formal agreement between
Warwickshire and Gloucestershire
County Council’s that allows
residents to use the centre at
Shipston-on-Stour,” said
the County Councils Head of Waste
Services Tony Childs.
“We had heard from
residents, who live in that area
of the county, that the journey
to their nearest site was very
inconvenient and so we took the
initiative and worked to provide
a cost effective and amicable solution
for all”.
“A
large range of materials, including
electrical goods, scrap metal
and timber, can be recycled at
these centres and Shipston is
a much more convenient destination
for people living in the north
of the Cotswolds than any of the
Household Recycling Centres we
currently provide.”
Residents taking waste to Shipston-on-Stour
are not allowed to use a van, pick-up
or trailer unless they have a permit.
