Waste being sent to landfill is contributing significantly to climate change.
Taxpayers will be subject to fines from Europe if more biodegradable waste is not diverted from landfill. In surveys carried out by Stroud District Council, residents have highlighted the need - and their willingness - to recycle as much as possible.
