Charity shops urged to take part in the Waste Reduction Challenge
Charity shops throughout Gloucestershire are being encouraged to enter a ‘best window display’ competition, as part of a campaign aimed at reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
From November 20th until 28th, the County Council is running a Waste Reduction Challenge. Residents in Gloucestershire will be invited to sign up to at least one of ten pledges aimed at reducing our waste.
One of the pledges is ‘take my good quality unwanted items to a charity shop’ and such shops are being challenged to create a window display during the Waste Reduction Challenge that illustrates a greener lifestyle and the reuse of goods.
The Waste team will judge the windows and award a prize to the shop with the best display.
We want as many charity shops to take part as possible. We will provide promotional materials such as free window adhesives to promote the challenge.
Charity shops that wish to enter should email auntyrubbish@gloucestershire.gov.uk or by calling 01452 425325.
Meanwhile, a number of events and roadshows are being planned in the run up to the Waste Reduction Challenge. Full details will be announced soon.
