Are you a driver with some time to spare?

Are you a driver with some time to spare? Would you like to help those working with disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Gloucestershire?

FareShare is the national charity that saves good food from going to landfill and gives it to organisations working with vulnerable groups of people. Last year it won the award of ‘The Most Admired Charity’ in the Third Sector Awards promoted by Barclays plc.

With the support of Gloucestershire County Council, Churches Together in Gloucestershire and a number of other groups, a branch of FareShare is being set up here in Gloucestershire.

FareShare of Gloucestershire will collect food from a FareShare regional depot in Bristol and distribute it to approved community organisations in and around Gloucester.

The food comes directly from producers and distribution companies. It is not ‘out of date’ food but food that is surplus to supermarket requirements or may have packaging that has been damaged in some way.

Some volunteer drivers are needed, with a clean driving licence, to help for one day a week to collect the food from Bristol and deliver it to local organisations. If there are sufficient people on the rota then it should only require a commitment of one day a month.

Other volunteers are also needed just to assist in collecting and sorting the food one day a week on the same rota basis. FareShare of Gloucestershire would like to hear from anyone with time to spare for this pioneering and worthwhile project.

If you think you can help then please contact the Project Director Malcolm Nunn on 01684 294 170 or by email at fareshareglos@aol.com
