Important changes to Gloucester's garden waste collection service
From 4th April 2011, a chargeable garden waste collection service will replace your current service.
You can subscribe to the service by ordering and paying in advance for one year. For the duration of the subscription, you will receive a green wheeled bin to keep your garden waste, which will be emptied fortnightly.
If you sign up early, you get up to six months free, for example:-
· sign up April 2011 - renewal 1st October 2012 (6 months free)
· sign up May 2011 - renewal 1st October 2012 (5 months free)
· sign up June 2011 - renewal 1st October 2012 (4 months free)
The cost of one year's subscription is £36, or £18 for concessions. Concessions are available to those residents in receipt of Council Tax or Housing Tax Benefit.
If you are applying for a concessionary rate you may be asked to provide evidence of eligibility.

How do I sign up for the service?
1. By telephone - please call 01452 396396, and have your debit/credit card ready for payment
2. In person - you can pay by cash, cheque or credit/debit card at Herbert Warehouse, The Docks, Gloucester
3. Pay online - use our online form
4. By post - send your application form, together with a cheque made payable to Gloucester City Council, to: Garden Waste Service, Gloucester City Council, Herbert Warehouse, Gloucester, GL1 2EQ
How does the scheme work?
For an annual charge, you will be supplied with a 240-litre green wheeled bin for garden waste. The bin is emptied every fortnight all year round (excluding two weeks over the Christmas period).
A bin will be delivered within 10 days of payment being taken and you can join the service at any time in the year on a 12 month contract.
After we have received payment and processed your application, we will deliver you a sticker or green bin if you need one. You must apply and pay for the service prior to receiving collections.
Please remember garden waste cannot be put in the refuse bins. Any garden waste found in your refuse bin will result in it not being collected.
We will contact you after 11 months to inform you that your subscription is due for renewal. Your renewal date is set as the first of the month after you signed up to the service.
If you move house within Gloucester, please inform us of your new address details, and take the green bin with you when you move. If you are moving outside the city, again please contact us and we will arrange for collection of the green bin.
