Cotswold District Council and Cheltenham Borough Council have agreed to introduce a joint waste and street cleansing service next year, which will improve waste collection arrangements while saving a combined total of almost £700,000 per year.

Saving a combined total of almost £700,000 per year.

The Cabinets of both Councils have voted to form a Local Authority Company (LAC) which will deliver a joint waste service to households in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds.

Both Councils will now be working hard on forming the LAC so that it can be in place by 1st April 2012. The new waste service will actually come on stream in April 2012 for Cheltenham and in August 2012 for Cotswold when arrangements with existing waste contactors expire.
