Project Summary
The residual waste project is about reducing our reliance on landfill and changing the way we deal with Gloucestershire’s household rubbish (residual waste). It is one of the largest procurement projects the county council has ever undertaken and, as well as the huge environmental benefits including electricity generation, it will save local taxpayers around £150 million over the new facility’s lifespan.
The county council is currently going through a competitive process to select a partner from the waste industry to design, build and operate a new energy from waste facility on Javelin Park, near Gloucester, just off junction 12 of the M5.
