Easter
Whatever your Easter traditions are, we have some tips and tricks for you to reduce your food waste.
Easter Roast lunch/dinner
Store- Have your containers on hand to store any leftovers safely in the fridge. Check your fridge is at the correct temperature to make sure food lasts as long as possible. Learn more here: https://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/good-food-habits/check-your-fridge-temperature
Cook- Plan different ways to use up leftovers so they don't go to waste. In a sandwich, on a jacket potato, on a pizza, the options are endless!
Freeze- Most components of a roast can be frozen if you have too much left, whether you go for lamb, chicken, fish or a meat free option just divide them up into portions to make them easier to defrost. Chocolate
Bake- Most Easter chocolates can be added into baked goods. Why not try melting Easter eggs into brownie batter or chunked up into cookies, or mixed with cornflakes to make Easter nests. Left over small candy coated chocolate eggs? These can go into cookies, cheesecakes, on top of cornflake nests and more.
Store- If you find you have a mountain of Easter eggs in their boxes, consider breaking them all up into a big plastic storage container such as a lunchbox. That way you can put out all of the recycling in one go and it takes up less space too. Don't forget you can recycle the foil too, just scrunch it all up into a big ball first.
Hot Cross buns
Bake- Got lots of leftover hot cross buns and not sure what to do with them? Why not make hot cross bun bread and butter pudding? Just substitute the bread for hot cross buns. It is a great way to use up any leftover double cream or milk too. Bread and Butter Pudding Recipe | Love Food Hate Waste
Freeze- Hot cross buns can be frozen too. To make things easier, slice them first and then you can defrost them straight in the toaster.
